I always appreciate more ideas for history night subjects. In my mind, I consider history to be as young as my youth (1950s or 1960s) in addition to being as old as Galesburg (1837).
I am still wroking on finding people to talk about big bands coming to Galesburg, and in talking with someone suggested by someone my Dad suggested, I was told Galesburg Library may have a slide show on Galesburg houses. That led me to three sessions of slide shows with text to be read.
The sooner I can plan a history night the sooner I can get the announcement in newspapers so more people are likely to learn about the event and come.
One history night I tried to get elderly people to come and just have a conservation about events when they were young. I got first hand info on the “100 year” (?) snowstorm and taking street cars around town. That kind of history night should happen again with more people. How can I get more people to come?

correction:
. . . and in talking with someone my dad suggested, I was suggested to talk with another person. That second person also couldn’t do a big band history night, but he mentioned that the Galesburg Library may have . . .
[When I worked to find people to talk about the railroad, I tracked through maybe 4 layers of reference and suggestions. Those 2 retirees were great.]
